All Things Altered Fall/ Halloween Blog Hop

Welcome to the All Things Altered Fall/ Halloween Blog Hop.  Are just arriving on my blog and want to start at the beginning?  Click HERE to start, but don't worry you'll come right back since I'm next.  If only I could see your face right now, scrolling, puzzled looks, scratching your head wondering WHERE'S THE HALLOWEEN PROJECT????  I know shocking.  Nope, I'm doing FALL!  I have a new basement we are just finishing and I wanted something on my new mantle.  Fall is my favorite time of year so I created these altered wood letters so I could enjoy it every year! I happen to have some Stampin Up Fall paper left, perfect for this project. I used various Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers dies to layer along each letter.  The little acorns my kids collected this summer when we visited Mesa Verde. I used the TH Twigs Border die, painted it brown and crackled.  This grunge twig is the base of each letter. Oh yes, the $1 Store is where I picked up berries, silk leave and me…

From Drab to Fab in 30 Minutes

Tissue Box Makeover...Crafting beyond Cards Yep, that would be my guest bath toilet.  Now, before you think I have lost my blogging marbles there is a point.   I really dislike those tissue box covers/ cozies that sit on the toilet.  However, I dislike my favorite Eucalyptus smelling blue box even more!  So, I am caving and yes I picked up a wee wooden tissue box cover.  I'll show you how I made mine and it cost me $2.00! What you'll need; 1. Unfinished Wooden Tissue Box Holder 2. Modge Podge (had it) 3. Favorite Paper (had it) 4. Sand Paper (had it) 5. Ink (had it) {I really am the worst at taking step by step photo's...why do you stalk my blog again?} So, I was at the $1 Store picking up an extension cord and happen to stumble down the crafty isle.  There it was, a tacky cheap wooden ugly tissue box holder.  Me and my crafty ways felt I could do something fabulous!  So it came home for the whopping cost of $2! If you know me...and you know you do.  You know I try to find…

Free Home Decor Project~Books

The Challenge Now that we are days away from our basement renovation being complete, I need to furnish and decorate.  While the furniture will be trickling in over the coming weeks I still have to add those decorating extras!  We splurged on good furniture that can withstand teenagers.  And with 1000sq ft to furnish money gets tight for decor to finish the space. I challenged myself to decorate on a very tight budget but free is even better.  Here's where you can cheat.  You can go the expensive stores like Restoration Hardware (which I LOVE) and drool over their decor like me.  Then go home and figure out a way to make it on a dime. Yep, I saw these books tied with twine at Restoration Hardware when I was buying my Media Console.  What a brilliant concept.  Now before you start sending me hate mail for destroying my books... my husband is in the book business (third generation) so books are a huge part of our lives.  And decorating with books like this just really fits.  These a…

Terrific Tuesday Challenge~ HALLOWEEN

Halloween Time! Scrappy Moms Stamps Terrific Tuesday Challenge is all about my most favorite time of year...HALLOWEEN! I made this paper pumpkin using Tim Holtz Kraft resist Halloween pack and some parchment paper.  I alternated the paper and embossed only the parchment. I cut 11 strips of cardstock 1"x5 1/2".  I used a small hole punch (the kind that a brad goes into) and punch about 1/4" from each end.  I could punch about 4 at a time.  Then use a brad on the top and bottom to hold the paper.  Now start pulling to make the pumpkin shape! Using the new Goosebumps set I stamped and embossed "You've got Bat-itude" on a Tiny Tags die then inked it up!  I also popped on a little wooded #31.  They come in red so I used my TH Dauber, Black Soot.  A little hot glue and boo...you have a cute tag! I attacked the grunge movers and shapers bats with copper wire. The movers and shapers tree branches painted black, then crackled gives a spooky element. Once I embosse…

Super Simple and Masculine

My oldest Son is 14 on Monday!!!!  Since we came home a couple weeks ago it's been on my mind to get his invitations done.  Well Back to School and our home renovations have taken up all my time.  Not today!  I have a little break in my reno's and I spent that time in my craft room.  Among other things I whipped together I wanted to show you his invitations. Here's how I got there... Teenage boys are past all those Robots!  So I'm keeping it industrial and minimal.  This Teal card stock is a cool splash of colour and is cut 6"x3" giving me a 3"x3" card.  I cut the black card stock at 2 3/4", then ran it through my Bigshot with my Cargo Stencil Number die!  DREAMY! Crafty Tip; I buy those oven liners then cut them up into sheets to craft with.   I cut them 1/8" smaller than the 2 3/4" with my cutter.  Great way to sharpen your blade.  Then I ran it through my embossing folder, ummm it's a Tim Holtz one.  I glued mini glue dots to a…
